Book Review of Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics by Dan Harris, Jeff Warren, and Carlye Adler

This book is probably the most non-new-age book I’ve read, or heard about on meditation. If you’re looking for a book that approaches meditation from a more scientific, health centered basis, then this is the perfect book for you. It’s packed with lots of reasons to meditate, addresses all the common hurdles to meditation, and gives you a lot of practical advice to get started meditating right away and build a consistent and life-long practice.

If I had to describe this book in two words: insightful and helpful.

Book Review of GuRu by RuPaul

This is a fun and fast read that will leave you feeling uplifted, even if you are not a fan of RuPaul. If you ARE a fan however, I think you would really enjoy this and find it very entertaining and delightful. It is a charming collection of thoughts, quotes, and advice on life told from RuPaul’s unique perspective.

If I had to describe this book in two words: quotable and uplifting.

Book Review of Wild by Cheryl Strayed

The book WIld follows Cheryl Strayed, our main character who makes no apologies about being a flawed human being but who is also introspective about her failings at the same time. Throughout her trek along the scenic and danger wrought Pacific Coast Trail, Cheryl makes an attempt to process and grieve for her mother’s death, the other losses in her life, and to reconnect with herself.

If I had to describe this book in two words: adventurous and interesting.

Book Review of Season of the Witch by Sarah Rees Brennan

Overall I was a bit disappointed in this book, but still wanted to finish it. I felt like it did not have much of a plot and nothing exciting or interesting really happens until the end. I did enjoy the way the story was told, the level of detail helps to give rich visuals. It was cute and a good read, but I was expecting more.
